The Sims 3 Apocalypse Challenge – The Rodriguez Family

Welcome to The Sims 3 Apocalypse Challenge!  The most difficult and convoluted challenge I’ve ever read.  So…yeah, I’m sure this will go well.  I was looking around and I saw one person say that they’re on their third run of trying to do this challenge, as their first two founders didn’t make it to generation three.  I’ve read through a lot of the site, though not all of it because I sort of understood the gist along the way.

The gist is this, you can’t do anything because it’s an apocalypse.  Everything you know is gone, mostly, but there are some of the basics still there.  Your goal is to rebuild society.  Within ten generations.  Now here’s the thing, there are a load of restrictions that are, frankly, hard to keep track of.  So I went and found a spreadsheet to kind of keep track of what’s going on.  I found this list right after I made my sim and all of that.  But I hadn’t done much with my family yet.

In the Mods arena, I’m playing with a few, but they’re all allowed according to the rules.  Most notably, I have MasterController, Overwatch, StoryProgression, and the NRaas Debug (because of the issue that occurs with plants being stuck in Harvest mode, literally the only reason for this one).  I did have a ‘no zombies at full moon mod’ but as it ruins the spirit of the Zombie Days, I removed it.  It makes me sad because I hate the zombies…but that’s all right.  Other custom stuff is the world I’m using, Rattlesnake Ridge.  It was made for this challenge, so it’s really cool.  I didn’t add any of the extra lots, because some of them required packs I don’t have.  Since the world is empty, I added in ten households that were sitting in my bin, then adjusted the Immigration rules with StoryProgression so that it adds 20 more.  Therefore, filling the 30 households you’re supposed to place.  Hopefully that works.  Fingers crossed here.

Any tips before I get in too deep would be appreciated.  Really, I could use them.  Stay tuned for the official start, including pictures!
